Product Owner / Project Manager
Dallas
Technology
Reporting to: Head of Product and Project Management
Summary
We are seeking a Product Owner / Project Manager to own both the product and planning sides of technology initiatives – translating how the business works into structured, buildable requirements, and planning and coordinating the work needed to deliver against them. The role is split roughly evenly between product ownership (requirements, backlog, and specifications) and project management (planning, resource allocation, sequencing, and status reporting). The ideal candidate brings a solid, disciplined approach to business analysis and requirements, and can plan and orchestrate work across the business. This is an on-site role based in our Dallas office.
Responsibilities:
Product / Requirements
- Requirements Gathering and Analysis: Partner with stakeholders across the business to elicit, document, and structure requirements, translating business needs into clear, developer-ready specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Apply use-case and scenario analysis where it adds clarity.
- Enterprise-Wide Elicitation: Gather and reconcile requirements from business units across the organization, driving clarity where processes are complex or thinly documented.
- Backlog Management: Build and maintain a clean, prioritized backlog. Author tickets and specifications that are clear, lean, and actionable for the development team.
- Prioritization: Prioritize features and requirements based on business impact, feasibility, and resource availability.
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Support: Plan and coordinate UAT to ensure product quality and alignment with business requirements, with every feature validated from the user’s perspective.
Project Planning & Coordination
- Project Planning: Develop and maintain project plans – scope, milestones, timelines, and charters – to guide and track initiatives from intake through completion.
- Resource Allocation: Map people and capacity to planned work, coordinating across teams and departments to keep initiatives adequately resourced and sequenced.
- Dependency & Timeline Management: Identify and track cross-departmental dependencies, sequencing work to keep timelines realistic and on track.
- Status Reporting: Produce concise, regular status updates for stakeholders and leadership (RAG status; prior period, current period, items for discussion).
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong communication across the business, securing the input, time, and sign-off needed to keep work moving and aligned.
General
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to enhance tools, workflows, and processes, driving efficiency and scalability across the organization.
- User Advocacy: Act as the voice of the user, ensuring needs and pain points are reflected throughout the product lifecycle.
- Training and Adoption Support: Support the rollout of new features with training and documentation to ensure smooth adoption.
This is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities, which may change at any time without notice.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience spanning business analysis / product ownership and project planning on technology-driven projects.
- Working knowledge of structured requirement-gathering methodologies – such as use-case and scenario analysis, UML, BPMN, or IIBA/BABOK practices – and the judgment to apply them where they add value.
- Demonstrated ability to plan projects, allocate resources, and manage timelines and dependencies across multiple stakeholders or departments.
- Strong proficiency in tools such as Jira, MS Project, and Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with team members, stakeholders, and senior management.
- Ability to write clear, lean specifications and manage a prioritized backlog independently.
- Business analysis, product owner, or project management certification or formal training preferred (e.g., IIBA, CSPO, CAPM/PMP).
- Previous experience in commercial real estate is highly preferred; experience in mortgage lending or commercial banking is also valued.
- Familiarity with Microsoft technologies, Salesforce, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric a plus.
Compensation: As an equal opportunity employer, ACORE Capital offers a competitive benefits package and salary/bonus commensurate with experience.
